ALL REHEARSAL DATES ARE MANDATORY!

We are all guests at the high school. Please keep an eye on all your children throughout these Rehearsals, including your dancers! We are not the only group using the high school on the rehearsal dates and we don’t want to disrupt the other functions.

NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE AUDITORIUM!!!!

 

 
Rehearsal

Monday, June 16th, 2007 at N.H.S. 4pm - 7pm

The Rehearsal at Newburyport High School is to give all of the dancers some exposure to the stage and its surroundings before the show. Every student is required to attend this Rehearsal. Plenty of Notice has been given and no exceptions will be allowed. Students are to be dressed in their normal dance attire. No costumes should be worn at this Rehearsal. Students should arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled stage time in order to stretch and warm up. Once your student has completed rehearsing all of their dances, they are free to go.

Dress Rehearsal

Thursday June 19th, 2008 at N.H.S. 4pm - 7pm

Students not being photographed should arrive at Newburyport High School Promptly at 4:00pm.

Dress Rehearsal is in full costume and make-up. Every student is required to attend this rehearsal. Your child should be ready to dance and be photographed for the studio Picture (which will be orderable this year!) at 4:15. I recommend arriving with hair and make-up complete, leaving only the costume to put on in the dressing room. This ensures your child will not have become uncomfortable in their costume before it is their time on stage or for pictures.

The Dress Rehearsal will begin with a brief question and answer session from 4:00 to 4:20 in the auditorium. This time will be used to answer any questions or concerns you have, so as not to disrupt the flow of Dress Rehearsal or Samantha in an attempt to get all students through the dress rehearsal in a timely fashion.

At 4:20 all class photos and The Studio Shot will be taken on stage!

If your child is in Act I, They must report to the green Room immediately following the Studio Photo.

After your child has performed they will be escorted back to their dressing rooms where you can pick them up and providing they are not in the finale or any other number you will be free to leave!

The schedule for the Dress Rehearsal will be the same as the Recital and will be posted that day. Stage exits and entrances will occur as if it is the day of the performance.

During the Dress Rehearsal, Dancers and Parents will be allowed in the auditorium to watch. Please be respectful of those who are performing and keep your noise level to a minimum or you will be asked to return backstage. If your child is in more than one number make sure they are changed and ready to dance before going out in to the auditorium to watch.

Videotaping will NOT be allowed at Dress Rehearsal. You will not be allowed to take pictures or Video tape during the final performance. This will be strictly enforced.

Dress rehearsal is in full costume. All dancers must have their proper shoes, tights (PLEASE no underwear or jewelry) and all props. Make sure your child’s make up is applied heavy enough so that it is visible from stage. Remember, they will be under bright lights and at a distance from the audience.

Recommended Make-up:
1. Blue or Violet Eye Shadow
2. Black Eyeliner
3. Red or Dark Pink Blush
4. Hot pink or Red Lipstick
5. Black Mascara

Your child’s Hair must also be pulled back at Dress Rehearsal. Pony tails are the minimum requirement unless you have been told otherwise.

The tight requirement for the show is: Capezio Light Suntan

If you would like to have your tights ordered through the studio,
please fill out the form and return it to the studio along with a check made payable to Adagio Dance Studio by May 15th.
If you are purchasing them on your own please try to purchase your tights early; they will be on back order by June.

 

 

 
Professional Pictures

Nordel Studios at N.H.S.
June 19th, 2008

A New Photographer has been selected to shoot this year's show! Nordel shoots many Dance Studios throughout the Greater Boston Area and they do a great job! In fact, they used to photograph me!

Professional pictures will be taken at Dress Rehearsal. This will ensure that all group and individual photos will be complete and available.

If you would like to have your child photographed, please fill out the attached form and return it to the studio in order to receive your Picture Package Information.
Individual Pictures will be taken from 2:30- 4:00.
The picture line will be “first come, first shot!”, so please arrive promptly at 2:30.

A 2007 Adagio Dance Studio Recital Picture will be the last shot taken promptly at 4:20, after all class photos have been taken. All students are to report to the designated area in full costume and make up to be featured in the picture. To order this picture fill out the form at the end of the packet and attach a check made payable to Nordel for $15.00
If you miss the photographs, there will not be a retake!

 

 
The Big Day

Movies, Musicals, & Medleys

Saturday, June 21st, 2008 at N.H.S.
Performance at 2:00 pm

Dancers should arrive at Newburyport High School by 1:30 on the day of the Final Performance. The Show will start promptly at 2:00pm. Once your child is ready to go on stage, please Sign in your child and leave them with the chaperones in their assigned dressing room.

Dressing Room 1 – Ages 7 and Under

Dressing room 2 – Ages 8 and Up!

Please do not bring your child to the Green Room.

No parents are allowed in the Green Room.

Once you have signed in your child, you will receive a backstage pass. The only person who will be able to pick up your child is the adult who signed her in and has the corresponding pass.

After your child has performed on stage, they will be escorted back to their dressing rooms and left with their chaperones. Games and activities have been planned for all age groups so please do not feel that you must rush back and pick up your child. There will be activities for them through out Act 1 and Act 2.

Once you have picked up your child and turned in your pass, you will not be able to sign your child back in to the dressing room. Please be aware that if you are intending on leaving before the Finale you should take your personal belongings with you because with out a backstage pass you will not be permitted backstage until the show is over. Adults without passes will not be allowed back stage. This is to avoid confusion and make sure all children are safe and sound with the proper guardians.

Intermission is a busy time back stage. If you need to come back to the dressing rooms for any reason other then to drop off your child in to their dressing room, please come alone. We will be gathering the children for Act II during intermission, so those students in Act II must be signed in to their dressing room before Intermission begins!

No Videos or flash photography will be permitted the day of the final performance. It is very distracting to those on stage. Please remain in your seat when the dancers are performing. Standing up as well as crowding the aisles and the first row will block the view of others. Please be respect of all of our Dancers and their families

The doors in the Auditorium will open between numbers only, and never when any dancers are on stage. It is a distraction to those who are on stage as well as the audience. Plan your exits and entrances well. Parents have missed their child performing because the doors were closed.

Entering and exiting the auditorium will only occur through the rear doors. If you are a parent who must get up frequently to assist your children, please be mindful of the others around you by choosing an empty aisle seat toward the rear of the auditorium during these times.

No Dancer will be allowed to enter the auditorium in costume.

No Dancer will be allowed in the auditorium with out a ticket.

If your child is in Act I and Act II your child will not be able to sit with you in the audience.

If your child is in Act I Only, they may sit with you after they have finished performing providing they are not in the Finale.

If your child is in Act II only, they may sit with you during Act I, but must return backstage before intermission and remain there until all of their performances are completed including the Finale.

If your child is in more than one number, they must remain backstage until all of their performances are complete. This year’s show only contains 12 numbers and I would feel horrible if someone missed their dance because they were sitting in the audience watching.

 

 
Majestic Video Productions

A new videographer has been selected to document this year’s event! He comes highly recommended and not only tapes the show but also includes clips from the Rehearsal’s and Backstage action. He is the only one allowed to video tape the recital and dress rehearsal. Please do not be disrespectful. If you are caught video taping in the auditorium, you will be asked to turn off your camera.

To order your Video, please fill out the attached form and return it to Adagio Dance Studio by May 15th. DVD’s are $35.00 each and will be available to be picked up at the studio by mid August.

 

 
Finale

If you would like to participate in this year’s Finale, please fill out the Attached form and return it to the studio. Participating in the Finale will require you to stay till the end of the show as well as attend the rehearsals in May and June.
This year there is no additional cost to be a Finale Dancer.

You will be required to wear your dance shoes and a few simple items that you probably already have at home (i.e. jean shorts and a solid colored shirt). A wig is required to perform in the finale. Nothing fancy… any color any style!

If you do not have a wig and would like to perform please see me anyways!
